A strategy based on the open traveling salesman problem to solve the vehicle routing problem with backhauls (Colombia)

Abstract

This article addresses the problem of delivering products that are handled in baskets or returnable transport items that needs to be picked up and returned to the distribution center. We propose an optimization strategy based on the Open Traveling Salesman Problem methodology, that has not been applied to similar problems, and we show an application to a real case where we obtained savings of 22.16% in the total distance traveled.

Este artículo aborda el problema de entregar productos que se manejan en cestas o artículos de transporte retornables que deben recogerse y devolverse al centro de distribución. Proponemos una estrategia de optimización basada en la metodología del Problema de vendedor ambulante de calle, que no se ha aplicado a problemas similares, y mostramos una aplicación a un caso real donde obtuvimos ahorros de 22.16% en la distancia total recorrida.
