Los Museos y su comunidad en La Habana, Cuba: el estudio de caso de un programa educativo para la protección del patrimonio y su medio ambiente

Abstract

Con el objetivo de contribuir al cambio de paradigma de dominación por el de armonía en la relación <<seres humanos>><<sociedad>><<naturaleza no humana>> se muestra la posibilidad de preservar y promover el cuidado del Patrimonio con una estrategia de educación ambiental, que incluye acciones transformadoras del entorno coordinadas a través de los museos, como agencias educativas de importancia territorial y con la participación protagónica y decisiva de la comunidad. Se ilustran las fortalezas y potencialidades de éstos para proteger el patrimonio y para fortalecer la identidad local a través del Programa Provincial de Patrimonio y Medio Ambiente. Proyectos como la creación del movimiento de los Grupos Arco iris, el de las Rutas Arco iris, Mapa Verde y Superación entre otros, junto con talleres, eventos, charlas, concursos, higienización y muchas más acciones realizadas a través de los dieciocho museos municipales y especializados, ilustran los resultados alcanzados en y conla comunidad y brindan las experiencias aplicadas desde 2006 hasta la fecha. Todo lo cual ha contribuido a elevar la cultural ambiental y patrimonial en el territorio. Más de 350 000 personas de todos los municipios de la Capital han participados en estosmás de quince años en las múltiples y diversas actividades de impacto social y cultural. El conjunto de sus acciones por el medio ambiente y su enfoque integral, diverso y de amplia participación es novedoso en el sistema de Patrimonio, tanto en esta provincia como para todo el país. Este Programa ha alcanzado diversos reconocimientos y premios nacionales e internacionales

With the aim of contributing to a paradigm shift from domination to harmony in the relationship between <<human beings>>, <<society>>, and <<non-human nature>>, this study highlights the potential to preserve and promote Heritage conservation through an environmental education strategy. This strategy includes transformative actions in the environment coordinated through museums, which serve aseducational agencies of territorial significance and actively involve the community as a central and decisive participant. The strengths and potential of these institutions to protect heritage and strengthen local identity are illustrated through the Provincial Heritage and Environment Program.Projects such as the creation of the Rainbow Groups movement, the Rainbow Routes initiative, Green Map, and Overcoming, among others, together with workshops, events, lectures, competitions, clean-up campaigns, and numerous other activities carried out by eighteen municipal and specialized museums, showcase the results achieved with and within the community. These projects also provide insights into experiences implemented since 2006. Collectively, they have contributed to raising environmental and heritage awareness across the region.Over 350,000 individuals from all municipalities in the capital have participated in the diverse activities with social and cultural impact over the past fifteen years. The comprehensive, diverse, and widely participatory approach to environmental action represents an innovative model within the Heritage system, both for this province and the country as a whole.
