Abordaje clínico odontológico de la mujer embarazada. Revisión de la literatura

Abstract

Durante el embarazo se presentan cambios fisiológicos que pueden manifestarse en la cavidad bucal. Existen parámetros que deben tomarse en cuenta en el abordaje clínico para evitar riesgos en la madre y el feto. Este artículo busca resaltar las consideraciones clínicas para el manejo odontológico integral de la mujer embarazada y enfatizar los cambios de interés en boca que presenta durante la gestación. Se realizó una búsqueda electrónica a través de PUBMED, Scielo, Google Académico y Trip Data-Base con las palabras “gestation, maternity, dental management” entre los años 2013-2018 en español e inglés. Se concluye que el abordaje clínico es seguro en cualquier semana de gravidez siempre y cuando el odontólogo maneje las precauciones para la paciente y le dé a conocer las manifestaciones bucales comunes y el tratamiento que debe llevarse a cabo.

During pregnancy women experiment physiological changes that could appear in oral cavity. There are special parameters that should be considered in the clinical approach to avoid risk in mother and fetus. The aim of this article was to highlight the clinic considerations for dental practice and emphasize odontological changes in pregnant women that may interest and interfere in dental procedure. A literature review was done by electronic research with the database: PUBMED, Scielo, Academic Google and Trip Data-Base from 2013 to 2018 in English and Spanish. We conclude dental treatment is safe during gestation, in any trimester. Dentist most educate the pregnant patient about the importance of oral health, be aware of common oral manifestation and the treatment that should be performed.
