A case-control study was developed at University Hospital of The Andes, in order to characterize the Eco Doppler Ophthalmic findings in diabetic patients with or without retinopathy in the services and Ultrasound Ophthalmology. A total of 72 eyes, were included in patients with confirmed diabetes mellitus, with or without diabetic retinopathy, of both sexes, over 60 years old; registered in the ophthalmology IAHULA during the period February to June 2015. The sample was selected considering the following inclusion and exclusion criteria. The main results an average age of 67.33 ± 6.02 years of age was observed, with a predominance of male patients with 26 to 72% and a 10 to 28% female. The time evolution of patients with retinopathy was 18.6 ± 7.57 years; higher than in patients without retinopathy with 13.2 ± 2.01 years. In analyzing the behavior of blood glucose levels in patients with retinopathy it was significantly higher with an average of 171.23 mg / dl ± 90.02 relative to control group with 96.01 mg / dl ± 5.06. The average AO IR in patients without retinopathy was 0.77 ± 0.46 to 0.82 ± 0.05 lower in diabetic retinopathy, with statistically significant differences. The average IP AO in patients without retinopathy was 1.23 ± 0.29 to 3.33 ± 1.08 lower in diabetic retinopathy, with statistically significant differences. Conclusions: In analyzing the relationship between the resistances indices of AO and ACR and severity of diabetic retinopathy, as it became clear that increased the severity increased IR both arteries
