The present investigation was made an analysis of the relationship of tax collections in Colombia, for
the concept of value added tax and income, included in the tax reforms of the years 2012 - 2014,
comparing them with economic indicators, gross domestic product, index of consumer prices,
unemployment rate and inflation, in the years 2011 - 2017, for which a descriptive analysis was made
of the trends in the variation of tax collection and trends in the variations of macroeconomic indicators,
identifying trends by means of cross correlation. It was possible to identify how unemployment
increases when the collection of the different taxes is increased, a similar relation is presented with the
inflation rate and the consumer price index, with a lower proportion establishing a relation in the gross
domestic product and the collection by tax. The above allows us to show that the modifications in the
taxes given in the tax reforms in Colombia do not contribute to the strengthening of economic growth.
