Caracterización clínico-epidemiológicas de las convulsiones febriles en el servicio de pediatría del Hospital Central de San Cristóbal
Resumen
OBJETIVO. Conocer la caracterización clínico epidemiológica de los pacientes
que consultan al servicio de emergencia por convulsiones febriles en el Hospital
Central de San Cristóbal durante un periodo de seis meses entre febrero a julio de
2013.
MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Las definiciones operacionales de las variables que
se incluyeron en el estudio, son: genero, edad, tipo de convulsion, antecedentes
familiares y personales, causa de la fiebre e indicacion de hospitalizacion. Se trató
de un estudio de diseño prospectívo, transversal, descriptivo y observacional, en
32 pacientes, se aplicaron análisis estadísticos utilizando el paquete estadístico
SPSS versión 19.
RESULTADOS. El resultado arrojo una mayor frecuencia de convulsiones febriles
en pacientes de 2 años de edad (22%), con predominio en el género femenino
(62%), evidenciándose mayor numero de convulsiones simples (72%), con mayor
repercusión de las infecciones respiratorias superiores (34%) y sin evidencia de
antecedentes familiares (88%) ni personales (93.7%). Encontrándose solo una
relación estadísticamente significativa entre la variable tipo de convulsión e
indicación de hospitalización.
CONCLUSION. La incidencia de las variables analizadas en este estudio realizado
en el Hospital Central de San Cristóbal evidencia resultados que en su gran parte
coinciden con los reportados en la literatura internacional, siendo más frecuente en
el género femenino a los 2 años de edad de tipo simple generada en su gran mayoría por infecciones respiratorias superiores encontrándose mayor relación
entre el tipo de convulsión y la indicación de hospitalización. Las variables de este
estudio que no se ajustan a la literatura universal son el género de predominio y el
antecedente personal de convulsión febril. MATERIALS And METHODS: The operational definitions of the variables that included in the study, are I generate, age, type of convulsion, familiar antecedents, cause of the fever and indication of hospitalization. It treated of a study, design prospect, transversal, descriptive and observational, in 32 patients, applied statistical analyses using the statistical package SPSS version 19. RESUlTS. The result launch a greater frequency of feverish convulsions in patients of 2 years of age (22%), with predominance in the feminine gender (62%) demostranting greater number of simple convulsions (72%), with greater repercussion of the upper respiratory infections (34%) And without evidence of familiar antecedents (88%). Finding a relation between the variable type of convulsion and indication of hospitalisation. CONClUSION: The incidence of the variables analysed in this study realised in the Central Hospital of Saint Cristóbal evidence resulted that in his big parí coincide with the reported in the international literature, being more frequent in the feminine gender to the 2 years of age of simple type generated in his big majority by upper respiratory infections finding greater relation between the type of convulsion and the indication of hospitalisation.
