Henri Pittier en Venezuela: vivencias y testimonios Lindorf, Helga Con ocasión del centenario de la creación del Herbario Nacional de Venezuela por Henri Pittier, en este artículo se presentan algunos momentos de su rol al frente de esta dependencia y en otros cargos que ocupó, los cuales dejan constancia tanto del entusiasmo que sintió explorando este país como de los desencantos y dificultades que enfrentó desempeñando el doble papel de científico y funcionario oficial. A partir de 1936, al crearse el Servicio Botánico, el herbario que Pittier inició en 1921 en el Museo Comercial se enriquecería con los aportes de sus discípulos venezolanos. Este trabajo está basado en artículos del propio Pittier y de sus biógrafos, y en investigaciones archivísticas realizadas por la autora.; On the occasion of the centennial of the founding of the Herbario Nacional de Venezuela by Henri Pittier, in this article are presented some moments of his function as chief of this office and in other charges he had, which confirm the excitement he felt exploring this country, as well as the disappointment and difficulties involved by working simultaneously as scientist and official employee. From 1936 onwards, after the creation of the Servicio Botánico, the herbarium he organized in 1921 in the Museo Comercial started to be enriched with collections from his Venezuelan disciples. This paper is based in articles wrote by Pittier and his biographers, and in archives research carried out by the present author.

Herbario Nacional de Venezuela (Ven): Un siglo de contribución al conocimiento de la Flora Neotropical Avendaño, Neida; Rodríguez, Leyda; Hokche, Omaira Este 2021 el Herbario Nacional de Venezuela arribó a su primer siglo de creación; este trabajo rinde homenaje a esta institución resaltando su importancia como patrimonio científico e histórico de Venezuela, de Latinoamérica y del mundo. VEN constituye la representación de la diversidad florística del país, y dada la calidad, cantidad e información de los especímenes que resguarda se mantiene entre los principales herbarios de Sur América. A lo largo de estos cien años tuvo que sortear eventos y vicisitudes en su consolidación y funcionamiento, manteniendo una trayectoria dedicada a preservar, enriquecer y dar a conocer la diversidad de plantas y grupos afines presentes en el territorio nacional. Estos cien años son motivo de orgullo y gran satisfacción para quienes laboramos en él, preocupados en conservar y custodiar la colección que alberga, y que lo mantienen como principal herbario del país y referencia en Latinoamérica.; In 2021 the National Herbarium of Venezuela reached its first century of creation; this work pays tribute to this institution highlighting its importance as scientific and historical heritage of Venezuela, Latin America and the world. VEN constitutes the representation of the floristic diversity of the country, and given the quality, quantity and information of the specimens it keeps, it is among the main herbaria of South America. Throughout these one hundred years it has had to overcome events and vicissitudes in its consolidation and operation, maintaining a trajectory dedicated to preserve, enrich and make known the diversity of plants and related groups present in the national territory. These one hundred years are a source of pride and great satisfaction for those who work in it, concerned about preserving and guarding the collection it houses, and that keep it as the main herbarium of the country and a reference in Latin America.
