Se realizó la descripción y caracterización que muestran las similitudes y diferencias respecto a especies determinadas en otros países, con claves realizadas por el botánico Robert Wingfield (Wingf.), lo que permitió elaborar un catálogo florístico exhaustivo y representativo del género Agave, debido a que existen muchas identificaciones tentativas o genéricas en algunos pliegos de herbarios, en Venezuela. La investigación se realizó en bosques xerofíticos de Falcón. En la región semiárida están presentes algunas especies con distribución restringida para el caribe, descritas en tiempo reciente y en el pasado (novedades taxonómicas), y también se localizan algunas novedades corológicas. Las claves para diferenciar los ejemplares estudiados, fueron cotejadas con las descripciones de Wingfield (2018).; The main objective of the present study was to elaborate a preliminary catalog of the Agave species that are both cultivated and naturally occurring, which were recorded after the field search and herbarium review. Se emplearon cáscaras de color amarillo y se analizaron de forma fisicoquímica. La extracción, se realizó con ácido clorhídrico concentrado a las siguientes condiciones: pH (2,2; 5 y 3), el tiempo (45; 60 y 75 min) y la temperatura (80; 85 y 90 ºC); como variable respuesta el rendimiento. El análisis fisicoquímico reportó: humedad 89,8%±0,4, pH 4,8±0,3, proteína cruda 4,3%±0,5, extracto etéreo 5,5%±0,3, azúcares totales 12,7%±0,2, azúcares solubles 5,5%±0,08 y cenizas totales 13,46%±0,07. El análisis de superficie de respuesta precisó, que las condiciones del proceso son: temperatura 85ºC, pH 2 y tiempo 75min para un rendimiento de 13,87%. La pectina obtenida, es de gelificación rápida y de alto metóxilo, esto indica que es viable la extracción de esta sustancia a las condiciones estudiadas.; The objective of this research was to extract pectin by acid hydrolysis of banana peel (Musa paradisiaca). Yellow husks were used and analyzed physicochemically. The extraction was carried out with concentrated hydrochloric acid at the following conditions: pH (2.2, 5 and 3), time (45, 60 and 75 min) and temperature (80, 85 and 90 ºC); performance as a response variable. The physicochemical analysis reported: humidity 89.8%±0.4, pH 4.8±0.3, crude protein 4.3%±0.5, ether extract 5.5%±0.3, total sugars 12,7%±0.2, soluble sugars 5.5%±0.08 and total ashes 13.46%±0.07. The response surface analysis specified that the process conditions are: temperature 85ºC, pH 2 and time 75min for a yield of 13.87%. El enfoque de la investigación fue cuantitativo, estudio de campo, exploratoria y descriptiva. La población y la muestra estuvo conformada por los estudiantes de la carrera de Agronomía, Ingeniería Ambiental y Zootécnica. Los resultados obtenidos con respecto a los parámetros para compostaje de la temperatura y Ph reflejaron valores aceptables. En tanto los valores de la humedad de forma específica del lote 1 de fecha, registraron algunas debilidades, tomando en cuenta que el mismo fue de 64%, valor que no corresponde con el criterio de aceptación del rango ideal que debe estar ubicado entre 45% - 60%.; The general objective of this research was to elaborate compost with household waste as a fertility alternative in Urban Organic Gardens, the study was conducted at the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, Sede Orellana, Ecuador; with the participation of students of Agronomy, Environmental and Zootechnical Engineering. The research approach was quantitative, field study, exploratory and descriptive. The population and the sample consisted of students of Agronomy, Environmental Engineering and Zootechnics. The results obtained with respect to the composting parameters of temperature and pH reflected acceptable values.
