satelitales: Landsat 5 TM (Thematic Mapper), y Landsat 8 OLI (Operational
húmedas en el cerro Montecristi.; The Montecristi hill, in the coastal region of Ecuador, is one of the
country’s protected areas identified as potentially vulnerable to contemporary
climate change and anthropic pressures, since vegetation is an indicator of the
state of ecosystems. Therefore, the objective of the research is to analyze the
spatial-temporal dynamics of the vegetation cover in the period 1986-2015, using
Geotechnology. Series derived from the Normalized Difference Vegetation
Index (NDVI) were analyzed to determine the variations in reflectance at control
points in some of the plant covers, these are: cloudy premontane forest (1998-
2015), very dry forest (1991-2015 ), and dry scrub (1990-2015). Subsequently,
the NDVI was extracted from the satellite images: Landsat 5 TM (Thematic
Mapper), and Landsat 8 OLI (Operational Land Imager), this allowed to identify
the ground covers and with the support of a GIS software the occupied area was
calculated, in each nodal year. It turned out that NDVI values lower than 0,10
for deforested areas; 0,10 to 0,40 for dry scrub; 0,50 to 0,53 for very dry forest;
0,54 to 0,56 for dry forest and values higher than 0,56 for cloud premontane forest.
It is concluded that the increase in the coverage of deforested areas and dry
scrub is due to the increase in anthropic activities, such as: deforestation, selec
tive logging, expansion of the urban and rural cordon, a factor that also explains
the reduction of the very dry forest, while the conservation of the upper strata
(dry forest and cloud premontane forest) would be associated with the oscillations
ENSO oscillations, favored by the occurrence of El Niño phenomenon,
generating humid conditions in the Montecristi hill.

además de registrar: altura, perímetro a la altura del pecho, cobertura y estratificación;
The purpose of this study was to characterize some of the species
of the woody forest of the Avicennia germinans mangrove forest located in the
Península de Chacopata, Sucre state, between 10º40’17 ‘’ - 10º40’27’’N and
63º46’49’’- 63º46’55’’ W, as Well as the physical properties of the soil that sustains
it. For this purpose, three phases were performed: (a) field, collected from
surface soil samples, plots from 30x30, drawn on bare surfaces and with mangrove,
in addition to registering the following physiognomic features: DCH, BA,
biomass, Coverage and stratification; (B) laboratory,% H, texture and color of
soil samples were determined; and (c) office, the data obtained in the field and
in the laboratory were statistically analyzed, using the Student’s T test and the
ANOVA, in order to know the significant differences between the groups of
samples. The individuals presented a mean height of 3.03 m, the DCH, BA and
the biomass presented maximum values in closed coverage areas of 7.71 cm,
1.93 m / ha and 33.4 kg respectively, dominating the shrub layer with 92, 8%.
The soil without mangrove presented 14.69% H, with sandy texture balanced
and color of brown to gray, while the surface covered with mangrove presented
18.76% H with significant differences between the samples corresponding to
closed coverage, as opposed to Those with open coverage or without Mangrove
The texture goes from sandy equilibrium in open coverage areas, to silt in closed
coverage, while the color varies from brown in open coverage to gray in closed
coverage.
