Por meio da história oral temática e anotações cuidadosas em diários de campo, entrevistamos 10 moradores de Ibirité, Região Metropolitana de Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais (MG), Brasil. Para além, dos processos ecossistêmicos mantidos pelos quintais, o trabalho encontrou elementos materiais e simbólicos que indicam que os afetos e crenças das pessoas são fundamentais para a configuração dos quintais em áreas urbanas. A discussão aqui lançada, compreende as fronteiras mais fluídas entre a roça e a cidade. As histórias orais contadas pelos entrevistados revelaram saberes, sentimentos e práticas acionados em áreas urbanas, mas que são oriundos de uma tradicionalidade rural. Outro fator pertinente registrado foi o papel das trocas simbólicas na manutenção da agrobiodiversidade em quintais.; This article aims to demonstrate that memory, knowledge and the practices that people develop are key concepts to understand agrobiodiversity in urban gardens. Through the thematic oral history and careful notes in field journals, 10 residents in Ibirité, Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte –Minas Gerais (MG), Brazil– were interviewed. In addition to the ecosystem services provided by urban gardens, the research detected material and symbolic elements that indicate that people's feelings and beliefs are fundamental to the configuration of gardens in urban areas. The discussion started in this work, comprehends the borders between the countryside and city more fluidly. The oral stories told by the interviewees revealed knowledge, feelings and practices applied in urban areas but coming from a rural tradition. Another pertinent factor recorded was the role of symbolic exchanges in the maintenance of agrobiodiversity in urban gardens. La APAEB-Valente es una asociación constituida por pequeños agricultores que ha ampliado sus actividades más allá de los objetivos iniciales. En sus 30 años de existencia, la asociación ha crecido y se ha convertido en una organización más compleja. Su acción ha favorecido la autonomía de los pequeños agricultores para que no se queden al margen del proceso de desarrollo. Aun sabiendo que existen lastres políticos que dificultan el proceso de desarrollo autónomo, se observan efectivas modificaciones locales, tanto a nivel económico como social, condicionadas por la actuación de la APAEB.; In this paper, the action of the Associação de Desenvolvimento Sustentável e Solidário da Região Sisaleira do Estado da Bahia (APAEB-Valente) –Association for Sustainable and Supportive Development in the Sisal Region of Bahia State– in promoting local development is analyzed. The APAEB-Valente is an association composed of small farmers who have expanded their activities beyond their initial goals. In its 30 years of existence, the association has grown and become a more complex organization. Its actions favor the autonomy of small farmers in order to prevent them from being totally apart from the development process. Although it is noticed that there are political mechanisms that hinder the development of autonomous processes, we have found effective local changes in both the political and economical realms, conditioned by the action of the APAEB. Como en los parques interiores de montaña sierras de Espuña, Carrascoy y El Valle, La Pila y El Carche esa relación hombre-naturaleza queda reflejada en sus paisajes. Dando lugar a un proceso de patrimonialización, evidenciándose el carácter cultural de los servicios ecosistémicos prestados. El estudio de estos procesos de patrimonialización, en el marco de los servicios ecosistémicos culturales, incrementa su conocimiento, mejorando la ‘gestión forestal sostenible’, basada en el desarrollo sostenible. Los servicios ecosistémicos culturales, en ámbitos forestales, refuerzan la concepción multifuncional de los sistemas forestales, siendo asumida como parte de la gestión sostenible; se analizan los procesos de patrimonialización y su relación con los servicios ecosistémicos culturales; son estudiados los aspectos culturales, de los usos y aprovechamientos de los sistemas forestales en el ámbito de los parques analizados.; Regional parks in the Region of Murcia have been historically affected by different natural and human processes. As in the interior mountain parks of Espuña, Carrascoy and El Valle, La Pila and El Carche, this relationship between man and nature is reflected in their landscapes. Giving rise to a patrimonialization process, evidencing the cultural character of the ecosystem services provided. The study of these patrimonialization processes, within the framework of cultural ecosystem services, increases the knowledge about them; improving ‘sustainable forest management’, based on sustainable development. Cultural ecosystem services, in forestry areas, reinforce the multifunctional conception of forest systems, being assumed as part of sustainable management; the patrimonialization processes and their relationship with cultural ecosystem services are analyzed; the cultural aspects of the uses and exploitation of forest systems in the analyzed park areas are studied.
