El objetivo principal de este artículo está orientado hacia al desarrollo de los procedimientos y elementos necesarios para la utilización del método de estudio de caso como herramienta metodológica de la investigación científica en cualquier área del conocimiento. Específicamente, se pretende mostrar tanto las características claves como los tipos, las fases, la utilidad práctica del mismo, y la forma como éste ha logrado superar el debate generado alrededor del mism

The main objective of this article is oriented towards the development of the procedures and elements necessary for the use of the case study method as a methodological tool of scientific research in any area of knowledge. Specifically, it is intended to show both the key characteristics and the types, the phases, the practical utility of it, and the way in which it has managed to overcome the debate generated around it.
