"Plaza Bolívar, temporalidad mítica y sspacio cinematográfico"

Abstract

Lo que caracteriza nuestra película tesis como cine antropológico es su punto de partida: la formula canónica del mito, planteada por Claude Levi Strauss, (Antropología Estructural, 1954), aplicada al aspecto mitocéntrico de la Plaza Bolívar de Mérida. Situados en el ámbito experimental de la etnografía audiovisual representamos la dimensión mítica del mencionado espacio público urbano, asociándola en nuestro discurso a una temporalidad donde presente y pasado se mezclan dando lugar a un tercer tiempo ´míticoµ que transcurre en un espacio proyectado sobre una pantalla en la que pululan usuarios del espacio mítico inmersos en su cotidianidad, como actores de las escenas que se repiten, siempre iguales y siempre distintas. Nuestro film será un nuevo mito sobre el viejo mito de la plaza o no será

What characterizes our thesis film as anthropological cinema is its starting point: the canonical formula of the myth, proposed by Claude Levi Strauss, (Structural Anthropology, 1954), applied to the mythocentric aspect of the Plaza Bolívar in Mérida. Located in the experimental field of audiovisual ethnography, we represent the mythical dimension of the mentioned urban public space, associating it in our discourse with a temporality where present and past are mixed, giving rise to a third ´mythicalµ time that takes place in a space projected on a screen in which users of the mythical space swarm immersed in their daily lives, like actors in scenes that are always repeated the same and always different. Our film will be a new myth about the old myth of the square or it will not be.
