Leer y escribir, mucho más que un hábito

Abstract

Desde este ensayo se concibe la lectura como un derecho para garantizar que los ciudadanos de un determinado territorio puedan leer todo lo leíble, se desempeñen y comprendan cualquier mensaje escrito; se manifiesten y defiendan sus derechos desde el lenguaje escrito; tenga criterios para elegir a quién los va a gobernar y a administrar el patrimonio público; en fin, sean ciudadanos de la cultura escrita con derechos para ejercer su ciudadanía. En el texto se cuestiona la responsabilidad académica, investigativa y política que la Constitución Nacional le ha otorgado a la escuela, a los maestros, al estado colombiano para que formen crítica y autónomamente a las nuevas generaciones de ciudadanos y se plantean argumentos desde un enfoque teórico sobre el abordaje de la enseñanza de este saber en las aulas y sus implicaciones en la vida, acciones, decisiones de los ciudadanos que se forman.

From this essay, reading is conceived as a right to guarantee that the citizens of a given territory can read everything that is readable, perform and understand any written message; their rights are manifested and defended from the written language; have criteria to choose who will govern them and administer public assets; in short, be citizens of the written culture with rights to exercise their citizenship. The text questions the academic, investigative and political responsibility that the National Constitution has given to the school, teachers, and the Colombian state to critically and autonomously train new generations of citizens, and arguments are raised from a theoretical perspective. on the approach of teaching this knowledge in classrooms and its implications in the life, actions, decisions of the citizens who are trained.
