Funcionalidad familiar, rasgos de personalidad y resiliencia en familiares de pacientes hospitalizados en la Unidad Psiquiátrica de Agudos en el Periodo de Febrero-Julio 2021

Abstract

INTRODUCCIÓN: Las familias son un referencial de importancia en el apoyo de los pacientes con enfermedad mental, haciendo parte del proceso salud mental y psiquiátrico. Las investigaciones hechas en este tema coinciden en la importancia de una atención multidisciplinaria para mejorar la calidad de vida de la persona, con presencia de acompañamiento familiar constante y oportuno. OBJETIVO: Evaluar en los familiares de los pacientes grado de Funcionalidad Familiar, los Rasgos de Personalidad y los niveles de Resiliencia, tomando en cuenta las características psiquiátricas del paciente y las demográficas del familiar. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: El estudio es descriptivo observacional, de corte transversal y correlacional. Se estudiaron 49 familiares de pacientes que asisten a la Unidad de Psiquiatría de Agudos (UPA), del Instituto Autónomo Hospital Universitario de Los Andes, Mérida, Venezuela. Se utilizaron los instrumentos de APGAR familiar, la Entrevista de Personalidad SCID-II y la Escala RESI. RESULTADOS: La edad promedio de los familiares es 42.8±12.4 años, el 79.6% son del género femenino. Los familiares de los pacientes en su mayoría reportaron un Funcionamiento Familiar normal (59.2%), alto nivel de Resiliencia (46.9%) y algún rasgo único o mixtos de la personalidad (73.5%). El 75.5% de los pacientes no presentó recaídas y el 79.6% no han sido hospitalizados durante el periodo del estudio CONCLUSIÓN: A pesar de la limitación importante correspondiente a los pocos estudios o antecedentes directos con respecto al tema, en esta investigación se pudo comprobar algunas hipótesis planteadas en el estudio, logrando identificar que la Recaída y la Hospitalización tiene una relación con el grado de Funcionalidad Familiar y nivel de Resiliencia, por lo cual se recomienda continuar con la línea de investigación hacia los familiares de los pacientes.

INTRODUCTION: Families are an important reference in the support of patients with mental illness, being part of the mental and psychiatric health process. Research on this topic agrees on the importance of multidisciplinary care to improve the quality of life of the person, with the presence of constant and timely family support. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the degree of Family Functionality, Personality traits and levels of Resilience in the patients' relatives, taking into account the psychiatric characteristics of the patient and the demographic characteristics of the family member. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study is descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and correlational. Forty-nine relatives of patients attending the Acute Psychiatry Unit, UPA, of the Hospital Universitario de Los Andes were studied. The family APGAR instruments, the SCID-II Personality Interview and the RESI Scale were used. RESULTS: The average age of the relatives is 42.8±12.4 years, 79.6% are female. The relatives of the patients have normal family functioning (59.2%), a high level of resilience (46.9%) and some unique or mixed personality traits (73.5%), 75.5% of the patients have not had relapses and 79.6 % have not been hospitalized during the study period CONCLUSION: Despite the important limitation corresponding to the few studies or direct antecedents with respect to the subject, in this research it was possible to verify some hypotheses raised in the study, managing to identify that Relapse and Hospitalization have a relationship with the degree of Family Functionality and Resilience level, for which it is recommended to continue with the line of research towards the relatives of the patients.
