| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Pregnancy associated breast cancer is defined as breast cancer that occurs during pregnancy or within the 1st year postpartum. Currently, the incidence of breast cancer associated with pregnancy is increasing, probably due to the fact that women in developed countries delay childbearing, thus increasing the age at first pregnancy and, in turn, the risk of suffering from breast cancer. Objective: To determine the incidence and risk factors in Breast Cancer associated with Pregnancy in patients treated at the Autonomous Institute University Hospital of the Andes in the years 2009 – 2019. Method: Among the years studied, 71.410 pregnant patients were treated, of which 16 were studied with Breast Cancer Associated with pregnancy at the Autonomous Institute University Hospital of the Andes. Results: The mean age was 34.38 years, 18.75% reported a family history of breast and neck cancer, 6.25% of ovarian cancer and gastric cancer. 56.3% the diagnosis was made during pregnancy and 43.8% was in the puerperium. The predominant histological type was the Infiltrating Ductal type in 75%, in terms of stages, stage IIIB with 31.25% and stage IV with 18.75%. Conclution: Breast cancer associated with pregnancy is a rare entity that is on the rise worldwide. In our population, the incidence of breast cancer associated with pregnancy was 0.022% for the years of study. | en_US |
