Buscando el origen de la investigación–acción participativa: una revisión narrativa de literatura

Abstract

La investigación-acción participativa tiene como cualidad principal la integración del conocimiento con la acción transformadora de micro realidades, siendo considerado un método de gran valía. El presente artículo tuvo como propósito develar el origen latinoamericano de la investigación-acción participativa, mediante la realización de una revisión narrativa de literatura, siguiendo los lineamientos de Vestena y Díaz-Medina (2018) y Page et al. (2021) para este tipo de investigación documental. Se utilizó la arquitectura Parsifal para desarrollar la metodología de búsqueda, selección y exclusión de artículos científicos publicados en español entre 2013 y 2023, que argumentaran o rechazaran su origen latinoamericano. Se ubicaron 36 registros documentales en Google Académico y Redalyc y se seleccionaron 18 aplicando criterios de exclusión. Para analizar los datos se utilizaron matrices documentales basadas en el modelo utilizado por Finol y Arrieta (2021). Los resultados indican que, si bien no existe un consenso sobre el mencionado origen latinoamericano de la investigación-acción, al menos existe una corriente proveniente de esta región, la cual propone una visión que supere el eurocentrismo en las ciencias sociales y un método cuyo fin es principalmente la emancipación de los pueblos, mediante el diálogo y la participación en la construcción social del conocimiento.

Participatory action research has as its main quality the integration of knowledge with the transforming action of micro realities, being considered a method of great value. The aim of this article was to uncover the Latin American origins of participatory action research through a narrative literature review, adhering the guidelines set forth of Vestena and Díaz-Medina (2018) and Page et al. (2021) for such documentary studies. The Parsifal architecture was employed to devise the search, selection, and exclusion methodology for scientific articles published in Spanish between 2013 and 2023 that either argued for or against their Latin American origin. A total of 36 documentary records were retrieved from Google Scholar and Redalyc, of which 18 were selected based on the exclusion criteria. Documentary matrices, modelled after those used by Finol and Arrieta (2021), were employed to analyze the data. The findings suggest that while there is no consensus regarding the Latin American origin of action research, at least there is a current emanating from this region, that advocates for a perspective that transcends Eurocentrism in the social sciences and promotes a methodology aimed at the emancipation of peoples through dialogue and participation in the social construction of knowledge.
