Embarazo no deseado y sus factores asociados en estudiantes universitarias

Abstract

Con el objetivo de evaluar la ocurrencia de embarazos no deseados y sus factores asociados en estudiantes de la Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes se realiza una investigación de tipo transversal y analítica, que incluye análisis bivariado y de regresión logística, a partir de los que se determina un perfil de las estudiantes con riesgo de tener un embarazo no deseado, constituido por tener edad comprendida entre 18-20 años (OR=.574 ; IC95% 0.50-4.02), que hayan iniciado la actividad sexual a edades entre 13-15 años (OR= 5.15; IC95% 2.12-8.16), tienen nivel regular de conocimientos sobre el tema de salud sexual y reproductiva (OR=1.74; IC95% ;1.31-6.31), y son solteras (OR=18.3 ; IC95% 14.4-21.6). En este estudio se presentan resultados que contribuyen a examinar la extensión de un problema complejo como lo es el embarazo no deseado para la estudiante universitaria, por sus serias implicaciones de salud, psicosociales y académicas.

In order to evaluate the occurrence of unwanted pregnancies and their associated factors in students of the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes a cross-sectional and analytical investigation is carried out, which includes bivariate analysis and logistic regression, from which a profile is determined for students at risk of unwanted pregnancy, consisting of age between 18-20 years (OR =. 574; IC95% 0.50- 4.99), which have initiated sexual activity at ages between 13-15 years (OR = 5.15; IC95% 2.12-8.16), have regular level of knowledge on the subject of sexual and reproductive health (OR = 1.74; IC95%; 1.31-6.31), and are single (OR = 18.3; IC95% 14.4- 21.6). This study presents results that contribute to examine the extent of a complex problem such as unwanted pregnancy for the university student, due to its serious health, psychosocial and academic implications.
