Oportunidades para intervenir y potenciar el centro histórico de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, Venezuela

Abstract

Los centros históricos son una ventana del paso histórico de la ciudad, su preservación impacta en el desarrollo económico y social de sus habitantes. En Latinoamérica, gracias a la Ley de Indias de la época colonial, los centros se construían en forma de retícula con una plaza como el punto central y, a su alrededor se edificaba el resto de las construcciones necesarias para el funcionamiento de la ciudad. Con el desarrollo vertiginoso de las zonas urbanas hacia la periferia, estos centros han sido algo descuidados. En el centro histórico de Barquisimeto, Venezuela, no se escapa de esta realidad, sin embargo, se encuentran edificaciones de valor histórico que pueden ser intervenidas para lograr que puedan ser sostenibles. El presente trabajo incluye las oportunidades de intervención y potenciación del centro histórico de esta importante ciudad venezolana.

The historic centers are a window of the historical passage of the city, its preservation impacts on the economic and social development of its habitants. In Latin America, thanks to the Indies Law of the colonial era, the centers were built in the form of a grid with a square as the central point and, around it, the rest of the buildings necessary for the functioning of the city were built. With the rapid development of urban areas towards the periphery, these centers have been somewhat neglected. In the historic center of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, it does not escape this reality, however, there are buildings of historical value that can be intervened to achieve sustainability. This work includes the opportunities for intervention and empowerment of the historic center of this important Venezuelan city.
