Santo Tomás de Aquino y la muerte

Abstract

Este ensayo expone unas reflexiones exploratorias sobre el tema de la muerte y cómo era pensada por Santo Tomás de Aquino. Aparte de ideas propias e ideas actuales sobre el tema, se dialoga con las ideas que tenía el aquinate sobre la muerte. Se resaltan cuestiones como la de que la muerte, lejos de ser un asunto impensable, es más bien un asunto difícil de pensar, pero puede llegar a ser pensado exhaustivamente, si se le corta por sus aristas más captables. De tal pensar no queda tanto un saber sobre la muerte, como un saber sobre la vida misma.

This essay displays some exploratory reflections on the topic of death and how it was thought by Saint Thomas Aquinas. Besides some of our own ideas about death, the text goes on like a dialogue with Aquinas’ ideas about death. Some aspects of this topic are outlined, such as this: death, far from being an unthinkable matter, it’s a topic hard to think, but one that can be thought thoroughly, if taken on its more comprehensive features. Of such thought what is left is not so much a knowledge about death, but more like a knowledge about life itself.
