La (in)variación del homicidio en Venezuela

Abstract

Se propone un análisis estadístico de la serie cronológica de los homicidios y otros indicadores de muertes violentas, intentando constatar la presencia de anomalías. Los resultados demuestran que la reducción actual del homicidio rompió la tendencia de la variable, que hay base estadística para considerar que los últimos cinco años constituyen un lapso anómalo del comportamiento de este delito. La conclusión sostiene que esta anomalía podría ser consecuencia de diferentes factores.

We propose a statistical analysis of the chronological series of homicide data and other indicators of violent deaths, attempting to find anomalies. The results show that the current decrease in homicides broke with the prior trend, and that the data support the idea that the last five years represent an anomaly in the typical tendency for this crime. The conclusion identifies several factors which could account for the anomaly.
