Los desafíos a la libertad, la igualdad y la fraternidad en tiempos de covid-19 y la carta encíclica Fratelli Tutti

Abstract

Estimo que, como lo hace patente el Santo Padre Francisco en la Carta Encíclica Fratelli Tutti, es indispensable conocer a fondo la naturaleza y definición de los conceptos de libertad, igualdad y fraternidad, y, por tanto, su estudio no es un mero juego intelectual o un análisis teórico erudito sin transcendencia en una época de grandes desafíos para la Humanidad doliente, ya que no se trata de censurar por censurar las medidas gubernamentales de los diversos estados del orbe en la guerra contra la pandemia de COVID que imponen el distanciamiento social, el confinamiento residencial y las restricciones a la circulación intra y extraurbana de las personas, sino de exigir, por una parte, que las mismas sean dictadas de conformidad con las normas constitucionales y legales y su razonabilidad sea evidente y, por la otra, que el acceso a las instituciones hospitalarias, a la pronta atención médica y al debido tratamiento terapéutico (incluyendo la aplicación oportuna de alguna de las vacunas en circulación mundial) estén efectivamente garantizados para todas las personas sin discriminaciones de ninguna especie

I believe that, as the Holy Father Francis makes clear in the Encyclical Letter Fratelli Tutti, it is indispensable to have a thorough knowledge of the nature and definition of the concepts of liberty, equality and fraternity, and, therefore, their study is not a mere intellectual game or an erudite theoretical analysis without transcendence in an era of great challenges for suffering Humanity, since it is not a matter of censuring for the sake of censuring the governmental measures of the various states of the orb in the war against the COVID pandemic that impose social distancing, residential confinement and restrictions on the intra- and extra-urban movement of people, but to demand, on the one hand, that these measures be dictated in accordance with constitutional and legal norms and that their reasonableness be evident and, on the other hand, that access to hospital institutions, prompt medical attention and due therapeutic treatment (including the timely application of some of the vaccines in circulation worldwide) be effectively guaranteed for all people without discrimination of any kind
