Resguardo a los derechos humanos de migrantes en situación irregular en Honduras: ¿Realidad o Discurso?

Abstract

Ante la intensificación de la inmigración, cada vez se hace más necesario estudiar la situación de los derechos humanos que están viviendo las personas migrantes. El artículo describe la experiencia de las personas migrantes en situación irregular sobre la protección y garantía de sus derechos humanos en el marco del acompañamiento de la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones, durante su tránsito por la frontera oriental hondureña. El estudio se desarrolló desde una perspectiva cualitativa de investigación, utilizando la entrevista semiestructurada para la recolección de los datos. Sus principales resultados evidencian el apoyo de servicios médicos, alojamiento y alimentación que alivian su crisis, siendo proporcionados por organizaciones no relacionadas al Estado. Hay evidencia de discriminación y abusos de naturaleza coercitiva que a menudo los someten a una explotación de carácter económico. Se concluye una poca coordinación entre el trabajo de las organizaciones estatales y la OIM de velar por sus derechos.

Given the intensification of immigration, it is increasingly necessary to study the human rights situation that migrants are experiencing. The article describes the experience of migrants in an irregular situation re-garding the protection and guarantee of their human rights within the framework of the accompaniment of the International Organization for Migration, during their transit through the eastern Honduran border. The study was developed from a qualitative research perspective, using semi-structured interviews for data collection. Its main results show the support of medical services, accommodation and food that alleviate their crisis, being provided by organizations not related to the State. There is evidence of discrimination and abuses of a coercive nature that often subject them to economic exploitation. There is little coordination be-tween the work of state organizations and the IOM to ensure their rights.
