Abstract

La investigación se centra en el contexto actual de la relación entre el reconocimiento constitucional de la Iglesia Católica y su impacto en el entorno policial, un tema de creciente relevancia en sociedades diversas y multiculturales. Este problema es importante porque las creencias religiosas pueden influir fuertemente en la toma de decisiones de los agentes policiales, afectando su capacidad para cumplir con sus deberes de manera imparcial y equitativa. El objetivo de este artículo es identificar y analizar la legislación existente sobre el reconocimiento constitucional de la Iglesia Católica y su impacto en el entorno policial en diversas jurisdicciones, buscando explorar cómo estas normativas afectan a los agentes en situaciones de conflicto de interés. Para ello, se realizó un estudio de revisión sistemática mediante la aplicación del método PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses), que recopiló y analizó 25 estudios relevantes de los últimos cinco años provenientes de bases de datos académicas. Los resultados revelan que, aunque existen marcos legislativos que reconocen a la Iglesia, la implementación de estas leyes varía considerablemente, lo que a su vez afecta la operatividad policial en términos de libertad de conciencia. Esta investigación implica que es esencial establecer políticas que respeten la diversidad de creencias en las fuerzas de seguridad, promoviendo un equilibrio entre los derechos individuales y las responsabilidades laborales.

This research focuses on the current context of the relationship between the constitutional recognition of the Catholic Church and its impact on the policing environment, an issue of growing relevance in diverse and multicultural societies. This issue is important because religious beliefs can strongly influence the decision-making of police officers, affecting their ability to fulfill their duties impartially and equitably. The objective of this article is to identify and analyze existing legislation on the constitutional recognition of the Catholic Church and its impact on the policing environment in various jurisdictions, seeking to explore how these regulations affect officers in situations of conflict of interest. To this end, a systematic review study was conducted using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta- Analyses) method, which compiled and analyzed 25 relevant studies from academic databases from the last five years. The results reveal that, although legislative frameworks recognizing the Church exist, the implementation of these laws varies considerably, which in turn affects police operations in terms of freedom of conscience. This research suggests that it is essential to establish policies that respect the diversity of beliefs within law enforcement, promoting a balance between individual rights and job responsibilities.
