Las primeras voces a favor de las mujeres en Occidente. Una metateorización de la antigüedad clásica al siglo XIX

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente investigación es hacer una metateorización de los orígenes del feminismo en occidente, partiendo de la antigüedad griega, el Medioevo, el Renacimiento, la Ilustración, la Revolución Francesa y el siglo XIX. La metodología que se usó fue la metateorización de George Ritzer, como medio para obtener una comprensión más profunda de la teoría existente, mirando hacia el interior de las teorías, centrándose en los factores sociales, en lugar de los cognitivos (Mu). Se encontró que, en la historia humana, durante el periodo de estudio, las mujeres fueron excluidas de forma sistemática de la vida pública, recluidas, vigiladas y castigadas en muchos casos con la muerte, si se salían del nicho que el patriarcado ha dispuesto para ellas: el hogar. Durante la revolución francesa y el siglo XIX surgieron las primeras voces a favor de las mujeres que fueron severamente criticadas en su tiempo, pero que constituyen la base de la teorización posterior. En consonancia con la teoría de la interseccionalidad, se concluye que el género no es la única variable de opresión, sino que la clase, el color de la piel, la nacionalidad, la preferencia sexual entre otras, constituyen importantes diferencias en el destino de las mujeres y que, en el caso del feminismo, la teoría es inseparable de la práctica que busca la transformación de sus condiciones.

The objective of this research is to metatheorize the origins of feminism in the West, starting from Greek antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the French Revolution and the 19th century. The methodology that was used was George Ritzer’s metatheoriation, as a means of gaining a deeper understanding of the existing theory, looking into the theories, focusing on social factors, rather than cognitive ones (Mu). It was found that, in human history, during the study period, women were systematically excluded from public life, imprisoned, watched and punished in many cases with death, if they left the niche that the patriarchy has arranged for them: home. During the French Revolution and the 19th century, the first voices in favor of women emerged that were severely criticized in their time, but that constitute the basis of later theorization. In accordance with the theory of intersectionality, it is concluded that gender is not the only variable of oppression, but that class, skin color, nationality, sexual preference, among others, constitute important differences in the destiny of women and that, in the case of feminism, theory is inseparable from practice that seeks to transform its conditions.
