Enseñanza del inglés centrada en la comprensión de textos de corte técnico científico en la educación universitaria venezolana

Abstract

La sociedad actual amerita que las personas posean la competencia comunicativa, tanto en español como en inglés, debido a la inmensa cantidad de información que circula a nivel mundial. En el caso del inglés que imparten las universidades, se debe garantizar que los participantes desarrollen competencias de habilidad y comprensión lectora. Es por ello, que el propósito de este ensayo es interpretar el significado de la enseñanza del inglés, centrado en la comprensión de textos de corte técnico científico en la educación universitaria venezolana. En esta idea, se presenta el acopio de la información a través del enfoque cualitativo, sobre la base del paradigma interpretativo, con un método fenomenológico hermenéutico, ya que la misión de formar profesionales desde las aulas universitarias con el contexto socio-cultural, es uno de los desafíos con el fin de disminuir la notable distancia entre la formación inicial, y la realidad más común que se experimenta en la cotidianidad de las aulas e instituciones educativas del país. Se concluyó, que el docente de inglés como profesional holístico y transdisciplinario, debe ser capaz de participar activamente, consciente y solidariamente en los procesos de transformación social para el fortalecimiento de la metodología de la enseñanza, y que sólo a través de textos de corte técnico-científicos, se pueda contribuir con una mejor competencia comunicativa en los estudiantes universitarios, porque hay mayor interés de aprendizaje.

The current society deserves that people have communicative competence in both languages either Spanish or English because of the great amount of information that circulates in the world. In the case of English taught by teachers in universities, must warrant that participants develop skills and reading comprehension competence. That is why the purpose of the essay is to interpret the meaning focusing on teaching English for the comprehension of kind scientific and technical texts in Venezuelan university education. In this idea, the collection of information is presented by the qualitative approach, based on the interpretive paradigm with a hermeneutical phenomenological method, as the mission of training professionals from university classrooms with the communities-cultural context is one of the challenges in order to reduce the notable distance between initial training and the most common reality that is experienced in the daily life of classrooms and educational institutions in the country. It was concluded that the English teacher as a holistic and transdisciplinary professional must be able to participate actively, consciously and in solidarity in the processes of social transformation to strengthen the teaching methodology, and only that, through technical scientific texts, better communicative competence contributes to university students, because there is greater learning interest.
