El Lago de Maracaibo: espacio vital aglutinador de la identidad regional zuliana

Abstract

Al celebrarse los 200 años de la Batalla Naval del Lago de Maracaibo es pertinente hacer un llamamiento académico e intelectual que consolide la creación de referentes identitarios hacia la Cuenca del Lago de Maracaibo y la subjetivice como espacio vital humanizado, centro aglutinador de la identidad regional zuliana y patrimonio geohistórico, sociocultural de la humanidad. Al analizar las manifestaciones de la cultura popular y las discusivas de la intelectualidad, se comprende que la simbólica alrededor de la cuenca del Lago de Maracaibo como espacio de vida natural, se ha transformado en el devenir del tiempo histórico a causa de la objetivación de su naturaleza, en razón de la actividad comercial impuesta por la explotación petrolera. La cuenca del Lago de Maracaibo es un imponente y sin igual patrimonio natural que debe preservarse, promoviéndose la exaltación, desde los distintos escenarios de la cultura popular y de la intelectualidad, de su imagen natural que actualmente está velada por la degradación ambiental.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo, it is pertinent to make an academic and intellectual appeal that consolidates the creation of identity references towards the Lake Maracaibo Basin and subjectivizes it as a humanized vital space, a center that brings together the regional identity of Zulia and a geohistorical and sociocultural heritage of humanity. By analyzing the manifestations of popular culture and the discussions of the intellectual community, it is understood that the symbolism around the Lake Maracaibo Basin as a natural living space has been transformed over time due to the objectification of its nature, as a result of commercial activity imposed by oil exploitation. The Lake Maracaibo Basin is an imposing and unparalleled natural heritage that must be preserved, promoting the exaltation of its natural image, which is currently veiled by environmental degradation, from the different scenarios of popular culture and intellectual discourse.
