Felipe González y el caso de los GAL: una relectura de la política antiterrorista de los gobiernos del PSOE en España entre 1982 y 1996

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es profundizar sobre la política antiterrorista practicada por los Gobierno de Felipe González, y, en especial manera, profundizar el caso de los Grupos Antiterroristas de Liberación, activos en el periodo 1983-1987. Revisitamos históricamente las principales etapas de la historia de los GAL, a través de un vasto material bibliográfico y de entrevistas cualitativas. A la vez, hemos llevado a cabo un trabajo de análisis de contenido de los discursos de Felipe González, centrándonos en los discursos de investidura y en los de apertura y cierre de los congresos socialistas, en el periodo que va de 1982 hasta 1996. Aunque González nunca ha admitido directamente la participación suya y de su Gobierno en la lucha de los GAL contra el terrorismo de ETA, la mayoría de las fuentes parecen confirmarla. El análisis de discurso revela que no siempre el contexto histórico explica la atención dedicada por Felipe González al terrorismo.

The aim of this paper is to study in depth the anti-terrorist policy carried out by the Felipe González Administrations, and in particular to study the case of the Anti-terrorist Liberation Groups (GAL), active between the years 1983 and 1987. We revisit the main stages of the GAL-history, first, through an extensive bibliographical material, and second, qualitative interviews. At the same time, we analyze the content of Felipe González’s speeches, focusing on the investiture speeches and the opening and closing of the socialist party congresses, in the period from 1982 to 1996. Although González has always denied the involvement of his governments in the GAL’s fight against ETA terrorism, most sources seem to confirm it. Discourse analysis reveals that the historical context does not always explain Felipe González’s attention to terrorism.
