La hacienda de Humboldt en Chihuahua, lugar de refugio para los bóers procedentes de Sudáfrica a principios del siglo XX

Abstract

En este texto se presenta una reconstrucción histórica que mediante entrevistas dirigidas y documentación se indagaron los vestigios de un lugar que cobijó a la única comunidad originaria de África y refugiados en México, agrupación conocida como bóers o afrikaners. Este trabajo surge de la necesidad de adoptar el giro hacia la microhistoria y recuperar así las historias que permanecen invisibles y que son significativas. Con esto se pretende, además de dar a conocer una parte de la historia, motivar al constante rescate de esos acontecimientos, con los cuales es posible colocar un rostro humano sobre lo que se lee. A lo largo del trabajo se exponen las razones migratorias que impulsaron la creación de la colonia de bóers, la caracterización socio histórica de las condiciones de vida durante el periodo que esta agrupación radicó en la conocida hacienda Humboldt en Chihuahua, México y su rápida desaparición a inicios del siglo XX.

In this text, we present a historical reconstruction that through guided conversations and documentation were investigated the vestiges of a place that sheltered the only community originally from Africa and refugees in Mexico, a group known as Boers or Afrikaners. This work arises from the need to adopt the turn towards microhistory and thus recover the stories that remain invisible and that are significant. With this is intended, in addition to disclosing a part of the story, motivate the constant rescue of these events, with which it is possible to place a human face on what is read. Throughout the work, the migratory reasons that led to the creation of the boer colony, the sociohistorical characterization of living conditions during the period that this group lived in the well-known Humboldt ranch in Chihuahua, Mexico and its rapid disappearance at the beginning of the twentieth century.
