Representaciones sociales de estudios universitarios de los estudiantes indígenas en la Universidad de Los Andes

Abstract

Los pueblos indígenas han luchado durante décadas por la defensa de sus comunidades y se han dado la tarea de promover e impulsar a sus familias a interactuar, desenvolverse con los criollos y más importante aún a formarse académicamente en el aprendizaje de una profesión. En este sentido, la investigación se planteó desde el paradigma cualitativo precisar las representaciones sociales de los estudios universitarios en estudiantes indígenas para la comprensión del sentido que para estos tiene el proceso de integración educativa ofrecido por la Universidad de Los Andes. Para ello, se tomó una muestra de veinte (20) estudiantes, apoyándonos en el método etnográfico y la técnica de la observación participante, como instrumento de recolección de datos se implementó la entrevista semi-estructurada que nos permitió ahondar en el campo de estudio de forma flexible. Posteriormente, mediante un proceso de categorización y teorización de los resultados obtenidos en el trabajo de campo, se logró caracterizar tres grandes categorías en el marco de las representaciones sociales, 1. Sobre los estudios universitarios ofrecidos por la ULA, 2. Sobre las Formas de socialización en lo desconocido y 3. Sobre las expectativas de vida al culminar los estudios universitarios, las tres responden a la importancia que para estos tiene su proceso de formación universitaria y que anhelan poder culminar con éxito pese a los tropiezos, carencias o dificultades presentadas.

To do this, a sample of twenty (20) students was taken, based on the ethnographic method and the technique of participant observation. As a data collection instrument, the semi-structured interview was implemented, which allowed us to delve into the field of study of flexible way Subsequently, through a process of categorization and theorization of the results obtained in the fieldwork, it was possible to characterize three major categories within the framework of social representations, 1. About the university studies offered by the ULA, 2. About the Forms of socialization in the unknown and 3. Regarding life expectancy at the end of university studies, all three respond to the importance that their university training process has for them and that they wish to be able to successfully complete despite the setbacks, shortcomings or difficulties presented.
