Kant y el contenido no conceptual: hacia una dialéctica del conocimiento

Abstract

Uno de los debates más importantes en filosofía de la mente versan sobre la naturaleza del contenido mental, si éste es o no conceptual. Argumentos de corte epistémico, cognitivo y psicológico se han puesto sobre la mesa para defender una u otra posición; sin embargo, me parece que el conceptualista, con su argumento epistémico, lleva la delantera. Por ello, mi estrategia no será adherirme a los no conceptualistas, pues creo que entraría en desventaja; en su lugar, me adentraré en el corazón mismo del argumento conceptualista, esto es, en Kant. Y hago esto porque creo que es posible hablar de contenido no conceptual en Kant. Ahora bien, esto no representa ninguna novedad, varios autores han intentado mostrar esta otra interpretación. Sin embargo se enfrentan a varios problemas, siendo el más importante la conexión entre los dos contenidos. Por ello, en este trabajo, usaré la noción de esquema trascendental para posibilitar la unión entre los dos contenidos y hacer ver cómo, en Kant, el contenido no conceptual juega un papel epistémico en la justificación de los juicios perceptuales. Finalmente, esta interpretación no sólo podrá disolver los problemas a los que se enfrentan los no conceptualistas kantianos, también arrojará luces sobre la naturaleza de los contenidos mentales.

One of the most important debates in philosophy of mind is about the nature of mental representation. If there are or not conceptual. An epistemic, cognitive and psychological argument has been proposed along the debate; however, the conceptualist, for this moment, is the most convincing one. That is the reason why I am not adhering to the non-conceptualist side, because I think that they are in disadvantage; Instead, I will go to the center of conceptualist position: Kant. I do this because I think that it is possible to talk about non conceptual content in Kantian philosophy. That position is not a novelty in philosophy, other authors has showed this possible interpretation. But they have a lot of problems; one of the most important is the connection between the contents. For that reasons, in this paper I will use the kantian notion of transcendental scheme, because I think that this notion is the necessary element to connect the different content notions, and show how, in Kant, the non-conceptual content has an important role in the judgment justification. Finally, with this interpretation I think I can solve the problems in kantian debate about the nature of content, if he was a conceptualist or nonconceptualist, also, I think that this tool sheds some light to the contemporary debate about the nature of mental representation.
