Through this study, it is hoped to vindicate music as a sensitive channel of creation, cultural expression and social transformation through the empowerment of human capabilities. Likewise, the research aims to know the Social Representations of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, in the musicians of the Mérida Nucleus, including the author; and in turn, to understand its impact on Human Development processes. The theoretical approach was based on the Paradigm/Syntagm of Human Development and the Approach of Capabilities and Freedoms (A. Sen), integrating the contributions of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), as well as the Theory of Social Representations (S. Moscovici). To achieve the stated objective, a qualitative research was carried out, with a phenomenological-hermeneutic epistemological approach and a humanistic and subjectivist ontological foundation. Finally, the ethnographic method was implemented, applying data collection techniques such as participant observation, in-depth interviews and field diaries, to a sample of musicians trained in El Sistema, who currently perform different artistic and work roles within the Mérida Nucleus, in order to access their perceptions, assessments, interpretations and experiences in relation to the phenomenon under study; In addition, the autobiographical narrative was incorporated as a technique used in the autoethnographic method, with the intention of deepening the understanding of the Social Representations and the sociocultural context of the group, based on the process of comparison and analysis of the author's life experience as an active member of the community studied.en_US
