Arquitectura, tecnología y cambio climático: del movimiento moderno a la contemporaneidad. Medio siglo de innovación del IDEC en Venezuela (1974-2025)

Abstract

Desde la aparición de las primeras edificaciones estables en el Neolítico, la relación entre construcción y naturaleza ha sido fundamental para el bienestar humano. A lo largo de los siglos, la arquitectura ha evolucionado significativamente, influyendo en el medio ambiente. En el siglo XX, la revolución industrial impulsó cambios tecnológicos que marcaron e internacionalizaron la arquitectura moderna, aunque también presentaron desafíos y problemas. Durante ese periodo, Venezuela experimentó un auge de la arquitectura influenciada por el modernismo europeo. En el siglo XXI, la tecnología ha jugado un papel crucial en la arquitectura, centrándose en la sostenibilidad, el cambio climático y la integración de la era digital. Desde su fundación en 1974 hasta el presente, el Instituto de Desarrollo Experimental de la Construcción-IDEC en la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la UCV, ejemplifica la importancia de la tecnología en arquitectura y su evolución hacia formas avanzadas y sustentables. Sin embargo, la investigación en el sector de las edificaciones se ha visto afectada por la falta de políticas estatales y la reducción de inversiones. Actualmente, se requieren estrategias claras que impulsen el desarrollo tecnológico en la construcción, fomentando la eficacia de las políticas y la gestión pública en el contexto de la modernización y descentralización del Estado.

Since the emergence of the first stable buildings in the Neolithic, the relationship between construction and nature has been fundamental to human well-being. Over the centuries, architecture has significantly evolved, influencing the environment. In the 20th century, the Industrial Revolution drove technological changes that marked and internationalized modern architecture, although it also presented challenges and problems. During that period, Venezuela experienced a boom in architecture influenced by European modernism. In the 21st century, technology has played a crucial role in architecture, focusing on sustainability, climate change, and the integration of the digital age. Since its founding in 1974 until the present, the Institute of Experimental Construction Development (IDEC) At the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Central University of Venezuela exemplifies the importance of technology in architecture and its evolution towards advanced and sustainable forms. However, research in the building sector has been affected by inadequate state policies and reduced investments. Currently, clear strategies are needed to promote technological development in construction, enhancing the effectiveness of policies and public management in the context of state modernization and decentralization.
