Estimación sugerente del cambio de perfil facial en pacientes de ortodoncia con extracción de premolares

Abstract

Con el objetivo de estimar cuantitativamente el cambio del perfil facial de pacientes tratados con ortodoncia contemplando extracción de premolares, se evaluaron radiografías laterales iniciales y finales de 55 pacientes, los cuales fueron divididos en cinco grupos de acuerdo al grosor del labio a nivel del punto A y se estableció una relación proporcional del grosor inferior del labio superior respecto al grosor del mismo a nivel del punto A. Los resultados revelaron que con un grosor del labio a nivel del punto A de 13 a 14 mm, con una proporción labial de 76,27 %, hubo un cambio en el perfil facial de 1,88 mm cuando los incisivos tuvieron un movimiento de retracción de 3,5 mm.

With the objective of quantitatively estimating the change in the facial profile of patients treated with orthodontics contemplating extraction of premolars. Initial and final lateral radiographs of 55 patients were evaluated, which were divided into five (5) groups according to the thickness of the lip at the level of point A and a proportional relationship of the lower thickness of the upper lip was established with respect to the thickness of the same at point A. level of point A. The results revealed that with a lip thickness at the level of point A of 13 to 14 mm, with a labial proportion of 76.27%, there was a change in facial profile of 1.88 mm when the incisors they had a retraction movement of 3.5 mm.
