| en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | The present research conducts a comparative analysis of the structural review of a 36-meter self-supporting steel tower designed for telecommunications purposes, aiming to evaluate its seismic behavior and overall stability. In the initial assessment performed using SAP2000 (Computers and Structures, Inc., 2023), slendernessrelated failures were identified in secondary members. In order to validate and contrast these findings, a spectral modal analysis and verifications under the LRFD method were carried out with STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition (Bentley Systems, Inc., 2023), in accordance with NEC-SE standards (MIDUVI, 2015), ANSI/TIA-222-G (2005), and AISC 360-16 (2016). The results reveal a fundamental period of 0.733 seconds, participating mass ratios exceeding 90%, controlled displacements (0.0074), and a base shear consistent with regulatory criteria, thereby indicating a satisfactory overall structural performance. Nevertheless, the secondary bracing members exhibit demand–capacity ratios between 1.2 and 1.9, along with slenderness ratios ranging from 240 to 380, confirming the deficiencies identified during the preliminary review. In conclusion, the tower meets essential seismic resistance requirements; however, optimization of the secondary members is required to enhance their compressive performance and ensure a more stable and reliable structural response. | en_US |
