The jaw is a bone strong, movable and involved in the speech and the mastication. The prominence, position and anatomical configuration make of this one the region of the face skeleton more prone to fractures. The objective of the treatment of the mandibular fractures is the anatomical restoration of the region of the third inferior of the face and the suitable phonatory function masticatoria and of the oral cavity, recovering the previous occlusion to the traumatism. Objectives: To select patients with diagnosis of Segmental Fracture of Jaw, taken part surgically in the IAH.U.L.A between May of 2000 and May of 2009. To determine the absolute effectiveness of the clinical-radiological results of patients with diagnosis of Segmental Fracture of Jaw, treaties surgically. Materials and Methods: Observational study, Descriptive type Clinical Series, with a sample of 30 patients majors of 15 years. Results: It was observed that 86.7% were masculine and feminine 13.3%. The age average was 30.3 years; rank: 18-65; standard deviation of +/-12,731.40% suffered accidents in motorcycle and 26.7% in vehicles. 70% of the fractures were bilateral, predominating the type parasinfisis - cóndilo opposed (33.3%). 66.7% of the jaw fractures had associate injuries. 33.3% were dealt with you implant combined (UniLOCK System and Miniplate) and 30% with UniLOCK System 2.0mm. 13% of the patients only presented/displayed complications. 80% had excellent results and 20% good results, according to the "Scale of OLSON". The 100% presented/displayed consolidation of the fracture. Conclusions: The rigid internal fixation is the election method on other surgical methods, obtaining fixation and suitable stabilization of the bony segments and early rehabilitation of the patient.en_US
