dc.descriptionThe life of the Swedish botanist (01/31/1729) Pehr Löfling, Carlos Linneo's favorite student who, on an exploratory trip sponsored by the Spanish Government to determine the limits of the Crown in Venezuela, traveled extensively through these territories, is laconically described. Beginning arduously since his landing in Araya in 1754. Exploration that allowed him, with the help of the first microscope used in these lands, to identify some 600 different species of plants, creating 30 genera and contributing 250 new species to the world taxonomy. He made a valuable trip with a sad outcome since he fell seriously ill with malaria, dying in the Misiones del Caroní (currently Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) on February 22, 1756.en-US
dc.descriptionSe describe lacónicamente, la vida del botánico sueco Pehr Löfling, nacido el 31 de enero de 1729, alumno predilecto de Carlos Linneo, quien, en un viaje de exploración patrocinado por el Gobierno español para determinar los límites de la Corona en Venezuela, recorre ampliamente estos territorios, comenzando arduamente desde su desembarco en Araya en 1754. Exploración que le permitió, con la ayuda del primer microscopio utilizado en estas tierras, identificar unos 600 distintos tipos de plantas, creando 30 géneros y aportando 250 nuevas especies para la taxonomía mundial. Valioso viaje con un triste desenlace, ya que cae gravemente enfermo de paludismo, muriendo en las Misiones del Caroní (actualmente Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) el 22 de febrero de 1756.es-ES
