dc.descriptionUnquestionably, it seems that the only way to advance towards more sustainable territories, where it is feasible and allows to move towards the achievement and maintenance of the well-being of the world population, is the recognition of the need to adequately plan territorial development; Therefore, at a global level, concrete actions and strategic changes are required for the application of policies that integrate social, environmental and economic spheres, with the purpose of ensuring the future availability of natural resources. In this sense, land use planning is considered an instrument for the orientation and administration of the physical development of the territory and the use of the land, in which ecological, sociocultural and economic variables are evaluated. Through a documentary review, it is intended to analyze the progress and challenges of the Latin American region in its transition towards sustainable territorial development; which inexorably implies the adoption and restructuring of public policies based on this concept. The findings demonstrate the demand for a holistic, analytical and strategic approach that allows the creation of assertive and efficient territorial policies applicable to each country.en-US
dc.descriptionIndiscutiblemente, pareciera que la única forma de avanzar hacia territorios más sostenibles, donde sea viable y se permita transitar hacia el alcance y mantenimiento del bienestar de la población mundial, es el reconocimiento de la necesidad de planificar adecuadamente el desarrollo territorial; por lo que a nivel global, se requiere de acciones concretas y cambios estratégicos para la aplicación de políticas donde se integren ámbitos sociales, ambientales y económicos, con el propósito de asegurar la futura disponibilidad de los recursos naturales. En tal sentido, el ordenamiento territorial es considerado un instrumento para la orientación y administración del desarrollo físico del territorio y el uso del suelo, en el que se evalúan variables ecológicas, socioculturales y económicas. A través de una revisión documental se pretende analizar los progresos y desafíos de la región latinoamericana en su transición hacia un desarrollo territorial sostenible; lo cual implica inexorablemente, la adopción y reestructuración de políticas públicas fundamentadas en este concepto. Los hallazgos demuestran la demanda de un enfoque holístico, analítico y estratégico, que permita la creación de asertivas y eficientes políticas territoriales aplicables a cada país.es-ES
