dc.descriptionSe reporta los resultados de un diagnóstico ambiental en la comunidad de Maitana, ubicada en el estado Miranda, Venezuela, que contempló la puesta en práctica de principios teóricos de la psicología ambiental y de estrategias metodológicas de la evaluación participativa. El problema fue la necesidad de lograr un modo social de controlar el contagio de leishmaniasis. Los resultados se derivan de la interacción y problematización colectivas de todos los participantes. Se encontró que la condición de la vivienda era el factor principal de contagio y se desarrollaron, junto con los vecinos, posibilidades de cambios arquitectónicos. Se concluye que la vulnerabilidad de los vecinos se encuentra en la construcción de sus viviendas y que existen maneras culturalmente apropiadas para remediar esta situación.Social facilitation of the control of leishmania in a communityAbstractThe results of an environmental diagnosis in Maitana comunity located in Miranda State, in Venezuela, were reported. These results considered the need to put into practice the theoretical principles of environmental psychology, and the methodological strategies of the participative evaluation of participants in order to achieve a social mode of controlling the contagious of leishmaniasis. The results are the product of the interaction and the collective problems of all the participants. It was found that the condition of housing was the main factor of the illness contagious. Possible changes in the bulding of houses were developed with all the neighbours. It was concluded that the neighbours vulnerability was caused by the building of houses and that adequate cultural ways to deal with this situation exist.es-ES
