dc.descriptionResumen:El “orientalismo” y el “occidentalismo” constituyen construcciones conceptuales que resumen una visión prejuiciada del “otro”. El concepto de orientalismo tomado en consideración fue el elaborado por el intelectual palestino Edward Said, y el de occidentalismo por Avishai Margalit e Ian Buruma; los cuales expresan como las potencias occidentales (coloniales en determinado momento) y los pueblos sometidos de “oriente” conciben a su contraparte, gracias a los intercambios que se dieron por medio de la expansión de las potencias europeas en los continentes de Asia y África desde finales del siglo XVIII. Aún hoy, en pleno siglo XXI, la visión del “otro” expresada en estos conceptos continua vigente. Es por ello que el mito, que intenta dar sentido y orientación a la experiencia humana, se relaciona con estos conceptos que aglutinan vivencias, intercambios e interpretaciones culturales.Palabras Clave: Orientalismo, Occidentalismo, Mito, Prejuicio.Abstract:The “orientalism” and the “occidentalism” constitute a construction that summarizes a prejudice vision of the “other”. The concept of orientalism taken in consideration was elaborated by the Palestinian intellectual Edward Said, and the occidentalism by Avishai Margalit and Ian Buruma; witch express how the western powers (colonial in determinate moment) and the subjugated people (of the “east”) convinced at their counterpart, thanks at the changes that it given through the expansion of the European powers in the continents of Asia and Africa since the end of the XVIII century. Today, in the XXI century, the vision of the “other” expressed in those concepts, continued in force. It`s for that that the myth, that try to give sense and orientation of the human experience, it related with those concepts that bind those cultural experiences, exchange and interpretations.Key Words: Orientalism, occidentalism, myth, prejudice.es-ES
