dc.descriptionResumen:El presente artículo estudia la transformación territorial venezolana en el siglo XIX, a propósito del establecimiento de las unidades político-administrativas y de la promulgación de la Constitución de 1881. Se estudian las tensiones producidas durante esa unificación, especialmente en el gran estado del Norte de Occidente o Lara. Se analizan las discusiones en la Asamblea Nacional Constituyente, 1893, así como el proceso de desenlace, 1899, que devolvía la autonomía a los estados.Palabras clave: Venezuela siglo XIX, Historia territorial, Gran Estado Norte de Occidente o Lara.Abstract:This article studies the transformation of Venezuelan territory during the 19th century, due to the establishment of political-administrative units and the promulgation of the Constitution of 1881. It considers the tensions caused by that unification, especially in the Great North-western state known as Lara. The discussions of the National Constituent Assembly of 1893 are analyzed, together with its outcome in 1899, which returned autonomy to the states.Keywords: 19th century Venezuela, territorial history, Great North-western State (Lara), autonomy. es-ES
