dc.descriptionResumen:En la provincia venezolana, los miembros del estamento superior velaron porque se cumplieran las reglamentaciones para el uso de alfombras y vestidos. Reservadas exclusivamente a las personas consideradas distinguidas y honorables de la sociedad colonial, el incumplimiento de la norma condicionó el comportamiento social para su uso. En este artículo se estudian estas disputas, evidencia de una aguda diferencia social entre grupos sociales.Palabras clase: Provincia de Venezuela, siglo XVIII, grupos sociales, estamentos, representación.Abstract:In the province of Venezuela, members of high society were vigilant that the rules for the use of rugs and garments be followed. Since these items were reserved exclusively for those of colonial society who were considered distinguished and honourable, any breach of standards in their use conditioned social behaviour.
