dc.descriptionResumen:Los dominicos que trabajaron evangelizando en Venezuela desde el siglo XVI hasta los primeros años del siglo XX es el objetivo de este artículo. No es una historia de la Orden de Predicadores ni tampoco un diccionario biográfico; hace referencia a una selección -no están todos-, de las semblanzas de estos frailes encontradas en archivos de varios países, las hemerotecas de Venezuela y algunos trabajos historiográficos. Son 234 dominicos de un universo mucho mayor y aunque de algunos se menciona alguna línea que abrevia su existencia en otros podemos trazar su vida y su acción pastoral en la Iglesia Colonial y Republicana de Venezuela.Palabras clave: Apure, Barinas, Caracas, Conventos, Cumaná, Dominicos, El Tocuyo, Frailes, Iglesia Católica, Infidencia, Margarita, Misión, Trujillo, Venezuela.Abstract:The Dominicans who worked evangelizing inVenezuelafrom the sixteenth century to the early years of the twentieth century is the focus of this article. It is not a history of the Order of Preachers nor is it a biographical dictionary; it makes reference to a selection - not all of them - of the biographical sketches of these friars found in archives of various countries, the newspaper libraries ofVenezuelaand some historiographical works. They are 234 Dominicans of a much larger universe and although some of them mention some lines that abbreviate their existence in others we can trace their life and their pastoral action in the Colonial and Republican Church of Venezuela.Key words: Apure, Barinas, Caracas, Convents, Cumaná, Dominicans, El Tocuyo, Friars, Catholic Church, Infidencia, Margarita, Mission, Trujillo, Venezuela.es-ES
