dc.descriptionResumen:La historia del ministerio de los Arzobispos de Caracas es una veta documental que, en general, permanece a la espera de espíritus aventureros que deseen adentrarse en ella. Abundantes son los repositorios nacionales con que se cuentan para realizar la empresa. El presente estudio pretende acercarse al último de los Prelados metropolitanos del siglo XIX cuando se cumplen 120 años de la consagración de Venezuela al Santísimo Sacramento. Para aquel período regía los destinos del país el General Antonio Guzmán Blanco, autócrata ilustrado que dificultó la vida de las instancias eclesiásticas del momento, mientras ponía en práctica un audaz proyecto de modernización de la capital republicana y de la nación. Todos estos tópicos serán tratados sucintamente en este artículo.Palabras claves: Guzmán, Uzcátegui, Castro, Caracas, Arquidiócesis, Catedral Metropolitana, Escuela Episcopal, Seminario.Abstract:The history of the ministry of the Archbishops of Caracas is a documentary reservoir that, in general, remains awaiting adventurous spirits who want to delve into it. Abundant are the national repositories that are counted for the task. This study attempts to approach the last of the Metropolitan Prelates of the 19th century on the 120th anniversary of the consecration of Venezuela to the Blessed Sacrament. For that period the destiny of the country was led by General Antonio Guzmán Blanco, an enlightened autocrat who hindered the life of the ecclesiastical instances of the moment, while he put into practice a daring project of modernization of the republican capital and of the nation.
