dc.descriptionThe article allows us to understand both the meaning of eleven canvases made in Quito, Ecuador, in the 18th century, and of the prints engraved in Germany, in the same century, that served as a model of those made in the Americas; it also allows us to imagine, from the study of three more prints of the former series, how were the three Quito canvases that are no longer preserved, and shows, after an extensive review of each iconographic element, that although viceregal art closely followed European art, re-readings, adjustments, and even corrections were made to it in the Americas.   Keywords: Iconography, Viceregal Art of Quito, Apostles, German engravings, Klauber brothers.en-US
dc.descriptionEl artículo permite entender tanto el significado de once lienzos que fueron elaborados en Quito, Ecuador, en el siglo XVIII, como de las estampas grabadas en Alemania en la misma centuria que le sirvieron como modelo; permite asimismo imaginar, a partir del conocimiento de tres estampas más de la serie, cómo fueron tres lienzos quiteños que ya no se conservan, y demuestra, tras la revisión de cada elemento iconográfico, que si bien el arte virreinal siguió de cerca el arte europeo, en América se hicieron relecturas, adecuaciones e incluso correcciones al mismo.   Palabras claves: Iconografía, Arte Virreinal Quiteño, Apóstoles, grabados alemanes, hermanos Klauber.es-ES
