dc.descriptionThe Central Seminary of Caracas had its origin in 1912 thanks to the approval granted by Pope Saint Pius X, who thus responded to the wishes expressed by the Venezuelan Episcopate to establish a Major Seminary for the entire Republic. It had its headquarters in the Metropolitan Seminary of the capital until 1921, at which time a new building was inaugurated in the Sabana del Blanco. However, not all the Bishops sent the students to the Santa Rosa Seminary, despite the insistence of the Congregation for Seminaries. Among them were the Archbishop of Mérida and the Bishop of San Cristóbal. Of course, the Society of Jesus, which had taken over the Caracas Seminary in 1916, would have to suffer criticism of the capital's clerical education project. The following lines want to briefly recall an important moment in the history of the aforementioned training project for the Venezuelan Clergy, recalling the meeting that was held at the San José de Mérida School. dc.descriptionEl Seminario Central de Caracas tuvo su origen en el año de 1912 gracias a la aprobación concedida por el Papa San Pío X, quien así respondía a los deseos expresados por el Episcopado venezolano de constituir un Seminario Mayor para toda la República. Tuvo su sede en el Seminario Metropolitano de la capital hasta 1921, momento en el cual se inauguró un nuevo edificio en la Sabana del Blanco. Sin embargo, no todos los Obispos enviaron los alumnos al Seminario Santa Rosa, a pesar de la insistencia de la Congregación para los Seminarios. Entre ellos se contaban el señor Arzobispo de Mérida y el señor Obispo de San Cristóbal. Por supuesto, la Compañía de Jesús, que se había hecho cargo del Seminario caraqueño en 1916, tendría que padecer las críticas al proyecto de educación clerical capitalino. Las siguientes líneas quieren recordar brevemente un momento importante en la historia del mencionado proyecto de formación para el Clero venezolano, rememorando la reunión que se efectuara en el Colegio San José de Mérida.
