dc.descriptionAs the 20th century began, the Venezuelan university was subject to questioning that revealed the problems that time had marked in its history. The University of Los Andes, in Mérida-Venezuela, was not exempt from considerations that contemplated the academic gaps that were marking the gaps that they would say to him. Above all, the common people saw the University as far removed from the rigor that many of its members boasted about. However, some considerations referred to whether the institution, given its history, qualified as a University-City or a City-University. In light of this interesting discussion, this dissertation seeks - as far as possible - to shed light on this noisy contradiction, using certain assessments or considerations that over the years have gained notoriety and established seriousness in this regard. And that is what the following lines reflect.en-US
dc.descriptionEntrado el siglo XX, la universidad venezolana fue objeto de cuestionamientos que dejaban ver los problemas que el tiempo fue marcando en su historia. La Universidad de Los Andes, en Mérida-Venezuela, no escapó de consideraciones que contemplaban los vacíos académicos que fueron marcando las brechas que le proferían. Sobre todo, el vulgo que veía a la Universidad alejada del rigor que muchos de ella presumían. No obstante, algunas consideraciones referían si la institución, dada su historia, calificaba como Universidad-Ciudad o Ciudad-Universidad. En virtud de tan interesante discusión, esta disertación busca -en lo posible- darle luces a tan bulliciosa contrariedad, valiéndose de ciertas apreciaciones o contemplaciones que con los años fueron adquiriendo notoriedad y sentando seriedad a dicho respecto.
