dc.descriptionLa universidad tiene un rol innato de generar conocimientos, en especial humanísticos y científicos para el progreso intelectual y material de la sociedad, que debe adaptarlos para el futuro, ya presente, a las aspiraciones y necesidades cambiantes de la sociedad y al progreso indetenible de los medios de información y comunicación como los demás. Se debe manejar inteligentemente los cismas del alma y del cuerpo social de la universidad para ese futuro cambiante, y lograr una misión intelectual que compense la conversión absoluta de la información en una mercancía sometida sólo al mercado. dc.descriptionThe university has an innate role to generate knowledge, especially humanistic and scientific knowledge, for the intellectual and material progress of society. It must adapt this knowledge for the future, already present, to the changing aspirations and needs of society and to the unstoppable progress of information and communication media, like all others. The schisms within the university’s soul and social body must be intelligently managed for this changing future, and an intellectual mission achieved that compensates for the absolute conversion of information into a commodity subject only to the market.
