| dc.description | In the 18th and 19th centuries, during the construction of the Venezuelan state, the presence of the book as a cultural object, contributed to build up a symbolic capital which allowed the reader community the understanding of the social issues. In this way, the book came to establish, as corollary of the “lettered city” of the Hispano-American colony, spaces, interdictions and transgressions that, materialized into the notions of knowing, power and utopia, empowered individuals for an interpretation and configuration of their relationship with their fellows and, of the latter, with their world. Thus, the main purpose of this research is to approach, from the semiotics of culture to the study of the book as a cultural object in the Venezuela of 18th and 19th centuries, in particular, during the term of the nation construction. Book and nation imbricated, we attempt to involve into the search of the various practices that, from the written culture, planned and made possible the “imagined” social coexistence. | en-US |
| dc.description | En los siglos XVIII y XIX, durante la conformación del Estado venezolano, la presencia del libro como objeto cultural coadyuvó a la construcción de un capital simbólico que permitió a la comunidad lectora la comprensión de lo social. Así, el libro vino a instaurar, como corolario de la “ciudad escrituraria y letrada” de la colonia hispanoamericana, espacios, interdictos y transgresiones que materializados en las nociones de saber, poder y utopía, posibilitó a los sujetos para una interpretación y configuración de su relación con sussemejantes y de éstos con su mundo. Así, el objetivo principal de esta investigación es el de aproximarnos desde la semiótica de la cultura al estudio del libro como objeto cultural en la Venezuela de los siglos XVIII y XIX, específicamente en el período de formación de la nación. Imbricados libro y nación, podremos aventurarnos en la búsqueda de las diversas prácticas que desde la cultura escrita pensaron e hicieron posible la convivencia social“imaginada”. Basado en ello, es posible deslindar matices de concepción acerca del libro como “programa de cultura” enunciado desde los proyectos decimononos de nación. | es-ES |
