dc.descriptionThe dentigerous cyst is the second most common odontogenic cyst of the jaws after the radicular cyst, which is generally detected as an incidental radiographic finding during the routine dental consultation in which a radiolucent image associated with a retained dental organ can be observed, its treatment. It basically consists of marsupialization or enucleation of the lesion. The following describes the case of an 8-year-old patient who attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Hospital General del Oeste “Dr. José Gregorio Hernández” due to increased volume in the lower right facial third. The lesion was treated by marsupialization and clinical and radiographic controls were performed using orthopantomography at the third, fifth and seventh postoperative month, observing optimal eruptive process of the dental organs involved. It is considered that orthopantomography is an indispensable tool during the monitoring and evolution of dental eruption after marsupialization, based mainly on factors such as the age of the patient and the depth of the tooth associated with the dentigerous cyst as determinants of a satisfactory evolution.en-US
dc.descriptionEl quiste dentígero es el segundo quiste odontogénico más frecuente de los maxilares después del quiste radicular que generalmente se detecta como un hallazgo radiográfico incidental durante la consulta odontológica de rutina en la cual se puede observar una imagen radiolúcida asociada a un órgano dental retenido, su tratamiento consiste básicamente en la marsupialización o enucleación de la lesión. A continuación se describe el caso de una paciente de 8 años, que acudió al Servicio de Cirugía Bucal y Maxilofacial del Hospital General del Oeste “Dr. José Gregorio Hernández” por presentar aumento de volumen en tercio inferior facial derecho. La lesión fue tratada mediante marsupialización y se realizaron controles clínicos y radiográficos mediante ortopantomografía al tercer, quinto y séptimo mes postoperatorio, observándose proceso eruptivo óptimo de los órganos dentales involucrados. Se considera que la ortopantomografía es una herramienta indispensable durante el seguimiento y evolución en la erupción dental luego de una marsupialización, basándonos principalmente en factores como la edad del paciente y la profundidad del diente asociado al quiste dentígero como determinantes de una evolución satisfactoria.es-ES
