dc.descriptionIn this documentary investigation, the economic situation in Venezuela is analyzed since the drop in oil prices in 2015. This event triggered the exhaustion of the economic model based on the "oil bonanza", leaving the State without plans to boost the economy. The situation was aggravated by the intensification of currency control, which generated an uncontrollable depreciation of the bolivar and an inflationary spiral that pulverized the salaries of Venezuelans. Currently, the Venezuelan economy is informally dollarized. The bolivar has become a currency without backing, after losing its use and exchange value. Goods and services are priced in dollars, and then converted to bolivars at a very high exchange rate. For this research, authors such as Ortiz (2017), Puerta (2015), Rincón and Labarca (2014), Cardozo (1998) and Aranda (1990) were used as bibliographic references, as well as recent journalistic information. The conclusion is that dollarization is a response to economic instability and high inflation. Although Venezuela is going through this situation, there are no indications that the State will assume control of the currency as other countries, such as Ecuador, El Salvador and Panama, have done. Therefore, if corrective measures are not taken, the Venezuelan economy will continue its spiral without any control.en-US
dc.descriptionEn esta investigación documental, se analiza la situación económica de Venezuela desde el descenso de los precios del petróleo en 2015. Este evento desencadenó el agotamiento del modelo económico basado en la “bonanza petrolera”, dejando al Estado sin planes para impulsar la economía. La situación se agravó por la acentuación del control de divisas, lo que generó una depreciación incontrolable del bolívar y una espiral inflacionaria que pulverizó el salario de los venezolanos. Actualmente, la economía venezolana está dolarizada informalmente. El bolívar se ha convertido en una moneda sin respaldo, tras perder su valor de uso y de cambio. Bienes y servicios se cotizan en dólares, y luego se convierten a bolívares a una tasa de cambio muy elevada. Para esta investigación, se utilizaron como referencias bibliográficas a autores como Ortiz (2017), Puerta (2015), Rincón y Labarca (2014), Cardozo (1998) y Aranda (1990), así como informaciones periodísticas recientes. La conclusión es que la dolarización es una respuesta a la inestabilidad económica y al elevado nivel inflacionario. Si bien Venezuela atraviesa esta situación, no hay indicios de que el Estado asuma el control de la divisa como han hecho otros países, como Ecuador, El Salvador y Panamá. Por tanto, si no se toman medidas correctivas, la economía venezolana seguirá su espiral sin control alguno.es-ES
